With an approach depth of 11.2m (12.5), the Pitea Port & Hub is one of the deepest ports in the Gulf of Bothnia. UKC = 0.70m. The port can accommodate ships with a length of 250m and a width of 35m. The applicable Fairway Standards of the Swedish Maritime Administration can be found here.

The benefits of being able to accommodate large ships are many. Transport costs for local enterprise are decreased, strengthening its competitiveness. The environment also benefits as the emissions per transported ton are drastically reduced.

You can reach the quay via either the east or the west fairway, depending on which side of the ship you would like to dock. Ships never have to be turned, neither on arrival nor at departure. The Pitea Port & Hub also manages the fairway through Pitsund up to the SCA paper mill at Munksund where the depth limit is 6.0m. All SSA managed by the Pitea Port & Hub are in compliance with the latest international standards.
