Ice breaking

During the ice season, Pitea Port & Hub charters the icebreaker Vilja from Luleå Port for ice breaking within the Haraholmen port area and out to the Leskär lighthouse.

Vilja, which measures 36 x 13 meters, is one of the world’s strongest hybrid powered boats and has an engine power of 7400 horsepower and a pulling power of 100 tons. She is partly powered by electricity, which helps to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
